I got some used speakers for free the other day (loose) and the only 2 connectors on them are these: what are they?

No, just a positive and negative. You can power them with an amp like the Lepai LP2020A+

Then plug the positive and negative of the speaker in the positive and negative of the amp.

Old school stereos had the neg and pos IO handled by a small copper bracket with a little screw on it, you just had to undo the screw, put the cable's tip and screw again. Today's stereos are probably the same, maybe a bit more elegant.
