Upgrading my gpu for christmas

hello everyone. ok so with christmas coming around the corner i need to get some things figured out. so to be quick. im going to up upgrading my low end pc to medium range. im going to be upgrading ram psu and gpu. i mainly need some help with the gpu.

 

3 questions

 

1: what gpu should i get from the 200-300 price range

 

2: if im in australia where everything is so expensive where should i go to get the cheapest gpu

 

3: will a $200-$300 gpu run on a psu of 500w

A 260x in dual-graphics mode is probably the highest I'd go with that CPU[APU]. Although I haven't seen real benchmarks with anything higher than a 260x, I'd be afraid of potential bottlenecks leading to possible stuttering & bad price/performance.

I would 280x 3GB Vram is needed now.

I think something like a R9 280 will be a good upgrade. Yes it might be a bit bottlenecked in some particular cases, when the CPU is needed a lot, but overall, you should experience a nice FPS bump.

its a good card yes...a bit overpowered for your cpu though...you should look for an r9 280 and save some more...

then yes defenetly look for r9 280x and r9 290 you will find good deals there.

EDIT: i see you are running 1440x900 so yes at that resolution high settings should be no problem.

an r9 280 would be worth it though...3gb of vram, more powerful...would last you longer.

R9 280 is worth it as i've mentionned already mate, go with that.
