So, here is my problem. I just built a pc for my fiance to play battlefield on really lol.

AMD 8320 @ 4Ghz

8G Ram

650W PSU

Asus R9 270x

1TB WD HDD

I put it together and tested it at my house, all was well getting great performance in and out of game, I took it to her house hooked it up and for some reason i feel like there is something going on with her CPU.

In the BIOS it states that its running at 60c, which is wicked hot for idle. So i reseated it,, even re aplied different thermal paste.. Same exact thing. I made sure all the power connectors and everything were firmly seated to everything on the motherboard. So im out of options at this point and have no idea what is going on. I unplugged my 770 from my pc and put her 270x in there and its running everything pretty much maxed out on my pc. After i installed the drivers of course.

I5 3570K

750W PSU

8G RAM

128 SSD

1TB HDD

When i was bench marking her stuff at her house i had the graph up "perfoverlay.drawgraph 1" and the cpu literally was spiking every couple random seconds way off the charts like, to the top of her monitor. But the card is maxing out everything on my pc no problem.

What do you guys think the issue could be? Could it be a bad chip or what? Also note that is was running her BF4 on low and struggling no matter what the settings were of the resolution.

Why don't you downclock it to its stock speed of 3.5ghz and report back on the results? Also, do you have any programs (like any and all of them) open while playing BF4? Some programs tend to conflict with the game. I know MSI Afterburner was doing something weird with my system.

Edit: You just downclocked the CPU.

There's no hope!

What voltage is the CPU at? multiplier/clock is meaningless when it comes to temperatures.

Not sure if that will help, but im pretty much down for anything at this point.

might as well, , I've had goofy things like this be solved by reinstalling windows. ;)

when i opened up cpuid it was anywhere from .9v to like 1.4

Literally running 100% stock right now.

You can try resetting CMOS to get back to a default BIOS in case you missed a stray setting that you changed while OCing. Knowing your MOBO would also help in diagnosing some of these things, I know AMD/AM3+ has some notorious temp sensor issues. Amending the title with FX-8320 should get some of the more AMD knowledgeable members in here.

np. I have relatively little experience with AMD kit. Just vaguely recall multiple threads here with temp sensor issues and the 970/990FX's, which is where my best guess lies at this point, assuming all voltage values are back to stock.

Yeah it's hard for me to judge whats going on cause literally unless something happened on the way to her house in the car everything is 100% the same.

970's in general aren't recommended for OCing, came across this listing: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AgN1D79Joo7tdE9xMUFlMEVWeFhuckJEVF9aMmtpUFE&gid=0

well if it runs fine besides the discrepancy between temp sensors I'd say mission accomplished, assuming the 60C at idle is not the accurate measurement. Have you tried another monitoring software besides HWMonitor? Open hardware monitor is fairly decent.

I have not, But either way it is not running fine, The framerates on her BF4, Goes anywhere from 20-100 no matter what settings even on low at like 1200x768. On my rig she can max out the game no problem steady 60+ fps 1080p with a dip every now and then around 56. On low on her PC she can not run Ultra even in the slightest bit.

What do the load graphs look like for CPU and GPU while playing?
