i was wondering if i should get a older pc (xp era) for cheap so i can take it apart and rebuild it then look around in the bios to learn more stuff, and just use it as a spare for trouble shooting things or maybe even a nas!

Good idea??

My Setup :P

Theres really not much to learn, and more than likely there will be nothing worth salvaging.

As for use as something like a nas...well, it depends if its significantly cheaper than anything you could build yourself now.

if it's that cheap and you can't spend the money on a useful upgrade for your "modern" Rig, go for it

Depends what kind of older PC. I'd get at least a Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2, so if you don't break it, you can actually use it for many different things, such as IHS in Steam

Depends where you look. Around here they can be found from 60 to over 200, depending on how much RAM they have, how big the HDD is, if they have a dedicated GPU, etc.

ok i dont need much storage, just enough for os and a few programs, so not much ram either

My Setup :P
