PSU Question

A friend is looking to build a computer. He would like to know if this PSU will support a Zotac GTX 970? I'm sure it will but I want a second opinion. Some people say to go with a 600w PSU and others say a 500w will do fine. He wants to be sure before buying.

yes it will. 600w is enough for two 970s.

It will run just fine, however that PSU isn't really that great.

It's a better build PSU than the EVGA B series. It's a Super Flower Golden Green unit internally, that offer high-efficiency, modularity, better electrical performance, better build quality, and a 7 year warranty. All for $34.99 after MIR.

 

Edit: There's also the Corsair CS550M for $40.99 after MIR. It's not built as well as the Capstone but it would do as well. If your friend plan on SLIing that 970, have a look at the EVGA Supernova 750w B2, which is $49.99 after MIR on Newegg, atm.

My friend is only using one GTX 970.

He'll use maybe 350 watts under OCd load so 500 watts will be plenty. If he wants SLI later, give him 600 watts. Said and done.
