Fixing a GPU?

Hey guys, so my friend has a gtx 770, and recently it just started displaying tons of colors on the screen rendering it (its a pun) unusable, from what i have seen, this is generally caused by some bad capacitors. So he bought a new 970 and is fine with that, but he is going to give me the 770 to tinker with and i plan on replacing the blown(if blown) capacitors. Have any of you guys done this before? If so i would appreciate relaying your experience! Thanks:)
