So I am going to build a new computer and am having trouble picking a CPU. I am going to be using this computer for gaming at whatever the highest settings are in most recent games (FPS). However, because of my $1000 budget which includes a monitor, I needed to get a really budget CPU. I have worked it down to two different choices which I cannot decide between. I can either get the Pentium G3258 and in one or two years upgrade to the i5-4690K because it uses the same socket, or I can get the FX-6350 and not upgrade for a fair while. I have the two builds below, and would love everyones feedback. Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that if I get the G3258, I WILL be overclocking it as high as it will go.

Go intel, the pentium won't be nearly as good as the fx-6350 in most tasks, but once you get the i5 4690K then it will destroy it.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Go intel.

And when you grow out of the pentium, you can pick up a i5 or i7.

Wanna hang out with me and people like @Theslsamg, @ Ssoele, @BENTHEREN, @Lanoi, @Whiskers, @_ASSASSIN_, @Looney, @WunderWuffle, and @nsyedhasan. Well.... Check out: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/48484-unofficial-linustechtips-teamschnitzel-server-teamspeak/

Personally, I would go with the Penium K build. If and when you have the money later you can upgrade to something like a 4690k and still use that mobo.

Laptop - Lenovo Y50   Keyboard - Corsair K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown   Mouse - Logitech G502 Proteus Core   Mousepad - Razer Firefly
