Have I got a faulty cooler?

After reinstalling my hyper-212x 3 times with proper thermal paste application. I'm still getting 55-70 degrees © idles. This is really strange and after around 2 days of troubleshooting I have pretty much concluded that it is faulty. 

 

So should I now look to get a refund/replacement from the store I bought it from or should I contact coolermaster directly?

are you overclocked?

No, with my stock cooler at the same speeds I was getting 33 degrees idle

well I can't be,  I did the line method and screwed it in... I don't know how I would stuff that up

well I can't be,  I did the line method and screwed it in... I don't know how I would stuff that up

Take your 212 evo out, clean thermal paste off, take photo of the base of the 212 evo and your CPU. (i suspect scratches on your 212 evo base)

It should be, its right next to an intake fan going out of the case

it looks fine to me.

did you bend this heatpipe? beacuse they may be other problem with that unit and you can return it to the store

what cpu are you using?
