i7 4790k Workstation / Gaming PC Finally Here!

L.E.D

I know I have been tossing the idea of a computer around for months, even though it may take a while to gather the parts... but I am finally doing it! I am building my PC. I'll start off as to why I went with such a high end cpu... wait for it... Cause I fucking can! Plus it was actually cheaper than a 4770k at the time of purchase. I will be pairing this processor with a Asus Z97-AR ATX motherboard. As it is on sale too :P I bought another ssd to go with the one I have now, so I will be using them in raid 0. I plan on 16 GBs of memory and maybe one or two more 2 tb HDDs.

The system will be used for anything from, gaming to 3D design, CAD, coding, random video production, servers, network hosting video. Just a general work horse. I know I probably went overkill but that's okay. I will be reusing an old case because honestly what it looks like doesn't bother me at all haha. Eventually I will buy an all in one water cooler and probably make my own mount out some flat stock or random metal that floats around here. The big kicker is the system I am replacing, it is a Dell Precision 670 from 2005. It has dual single core, hyperthreaded 3.66Ghz Xeons, 6GBs of SLOW DDR2 EEC memory, Then the parts I added, an HD 6850 from AMD ( ATI at the time ) an OCZ 120GB SSD, and to top it off a single 1TB WD Black. So you can say I will be much happier with the new system. My wallet hurts but it's for a good cause!

I am by no means a professional builder and don't call myself one. So please don't expect this to be insanely elaborate. :P

Its all good, kinda haha. I need to buy a case as I destroyed the one I was gonna use, it was an old ugly computer case but it didn't work right :P Got a Corsair 300R. As well as 2 6970s!

Thanks L.E.D

Nathan

PS. If there are any errors, I blame it on the fact that I took no more then 4 minutes to type this :D Enojoy!

While the 5820k isn't significantly more expensive the X99 platform is.
