AMD CPU and APU Help

Go to solution Solved by EarthboundHero,

If you're just gaming the 860K will be better, lower power consumption, cheaper boards, better OC's, and newer platform. Though it has less cores, so if you're streaming, video editing or anything like that go for the 8320.

So I am building a computer and want to get the AMD fx 8320, but the AM3+ socket is pretty much dead. I was wondering if there is a CPU or APU in the FM2+ socket with around the same single core or multicore performance? Also please no Intel stuff, unless you can show me an intel product that can do better in multicore and single core than the 8320 for 100$.

860K will be the best, not sure how it performs to the 8320 though.

no way, i3 is not better (sometimes in games is simillar, but not in daily work or average performance)

I think, you can try 2 ways:

1)APU with HSA support - CPU performance of A10 is average near the core i3 Haswell. SIngle thread is a bit worse, multithread a bit better. But if you have some software with HSA support, its nice speedup. Support of HSA software you can find with google (example Libre office or Corel). There is no plan highed APU for future to FM2+...

2)FX-8320/8320E/8350 are great CPUs for the money. Oldschool chipset with external NB and old SB, but multithread performance of FX is very good (average between i5 and i7, depends at software). FXs are great in videoencoding, rendering, extreme megatasking or spcecial virtualization. Daily work is slower than i5/i7, but in practice you will not feel it. FPS games are simillar as with Intel core i5. Single threaded games or some MMORPG are not much optimized and FX dont like these games (perfromance here as i3)...For FX-8000 you must have good board, at least M5A97 R2.0 and if you will some better OC, at least M5A99X EVO or better.

Would this motherboard be a good overclocker for a 8320? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130790&cm_re=msi_gaming_motherboard-_-13-130-790-_-Product

That boards a good one, I'm running an 8350 on mine, I know others suggest the gigabyte boards, only downside to it is the software sucks so I wouldn't use it and just stick with the bois

My budget is 600dollars sir. I also want an fx6300 and msi 970 as a mobo but its hard to find that here in the philippines. Am3 boards and fx series procies are hard to find here.

A store already reserved me an a10 7850 for my procie and asrock a88x extreme 4+.

My budget is 600dollars for my whole build. Inclusive of monitor and casing sir

ok get at least the CM cooler which i link in my previous post as the APU runs quite hot with the stock cooler

APU need fast RAM to work well

2133MHz or 2400MHz is suggested

my build is around 400 so you only need to pick your monitor

use build 1 and opt for 2133MHz RAM

I don't think you may need the DVD-RW drive

you can install Windows from a USB drive and it faster
