Gigabyte GTX 970.

Hey guys what's up, I'm buying a GTX 970 tomorrow. I was thinking of getting the MSI one, but then I realised that the Gigabyte version has a backplate (and is cheaper) which will stop it from sagging. My question is, can a Gigabyte card fit in my Coolermaster Scout Storm 2? I know for definite that it would fit if I removed the HDD cage, but I'm not sure if it will if I don't. I'd prefer not to have to remove it if possible.

Does anyone have this case and a Gigabyte card? I'd really appreciate your feedback :)

Remove the appropriate HDD cage and it will fit easily.

I prefer the MSI semi passive LOVE IT.

Yeah it looks much better, but doesn't have a backplate :/ (it's only drawback).

Remove the appropriate HDD cage and it will fit easily.

Yeah but then I will be limited in how many hardrives I can have :/

Just to clarify, which Gigabyte GPU did you get. They sell a cheaper 970 with no backplate and less beefy cooling, which doesn't carry the G1 gaming name. I'm yet to come across a G1 970 cheaper than the MSI one, although that admittedly is in the UK only.

Just my general impression being it's always more expensive.

Ah I thought they only sold one model, thanks for clearing that up so. I guess I'll just go with the MSI version so :)

Double check, for all I know it could be the G1, which I would recommend if you can spare the cash - I have one and it is really good. Silent at idle (case fans are louder) and always stays really cool and quiet under load. Proper VRM cooling is a bonus for me too because I'd like to SLI one day :)

You should be able to see in the manufacturer product code thingy G1 somewhere if it's the G1 edition.

Nah I checked, I couldn't find the G1 in the code on the cheaper one. It's a shame. My budget that I'm willing to spend is €365, sadly the G1 Gigabyte model is €379 whereas the MSI version is €361 so I'll go with that :) Thanks again for the help though!!

I have the Scout II and it will fit as long as you remove the HDD bays. The G1 is 31ish cm
