Which model in particular? The one I find most comparable in price is the GB-BXBT-1900, which uses a quad core Intel Celeron CPU.

I see some potential.

 

Slap a big enough SSD in there with my data and my music, and use it as a home server so I only have the hard disks in the big NAS for video storage. 

No more of that annoying spool-up lag whenever I want to open a file or when the PC wants to load the next song in my playlist.

 

Not sure if I'd run Freenas on it though.  Perhaps an old version that doesn't need a gazillion terabytes of RAM just to run.

No the lowest chip is a celeron there are no atoms in this comparison.

not even that. yeah the FX's do, because of inefficient arch, and a lossy process 

 

but the Hawaii chip if adequatly cooled, consumes within 10% the same power as GK110 and heats up about the same as it does (within 10ish percebt)

Also, mITX R9 285 actually runs cooler than mITX GTX 760.
