Sadly, the first batch of 2000 as been reached. I'd wait for the second batch though because of the price.

Well, the differences between the Q701 and K612 is that the Q701 has a wider soundstage but the wider soundstage comes at a cost where the center image can be missing at times. The Q701 has slightly more detail and is brighter with a bit of a glare in the upper-midrange and lower treble. It also doesn't extend as much in the bass as the K612 and has less bass. The K612 is more neutral and linear. The Q701 is more soundstage and analytically oriented.

It really depends on you. K612 Pro and a good amp.

the Massdrop for the AKG K7XX is going to 4000, the ones ordered after 2000 will just ship in February.

Only worth it if you want the removable cable feature.

612 is the same driver tuned slightly different to have better bass extension at the cost of a fe dB in the treble spike. The 7XX achieves better bass with different pads.

612's are far more comfortable. And they have slightly more bass if that's your thing. (They're also cheaper).

last thing I heard on the K7XX is the current drop is going to 4 then later (when AKG has their production line ready) they'll do another 2.. that may have changed and just gonna go to the 6K now.. I haven't kept up with the discussion pages overnight.
