First time build! Advice?

Hi, so I just started researching to do my first gaming pc build. My goal is to get a powerful gaming pc that is farely future-proof, all while keeping price/performance in mind. And the one interesting caveat is that I am currently living in Japan and am a little restricted at what I can find here. (newegg no Japan delivery). For those that understand Japanese, I am mainly using dospara.co.jp

 

So, this is what I've got so far:

 

CPU: Intel i5 4690k

MB: Asus z97-a  (is z97-pro worth it?)

Memory: Kingston Hyperx Fury 2x8gb

GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 970 4gb Strix

 

 

What do you guys think so far?

 

Two things I was wondering, do the fact that they are parts for Japan make a difference (region-lock type of thing)

Also, does it make any difference if the MB and GPU are the same brand (Asus and Asus). I was also looking at the MSI GTX 970 4G Twin Frozr.

 

 

I am still new to this, so any advice on what I currently have, and on the parts I don't have yet is much appreciated!

Thanks for the quick replies. I am budgeting about 1500-2000 dollars, and I plan on going Windows 7 or 8. I need everything except for a monitor. A friend gave me a Dell monitor and I'll just use that for now. Thanks!
