i7 upgrade recomendations

Go to solution Solved by Spanx24,

Don't waste your time pulling apart your laptop, you won't be able to upgrade anything but your RAM and hard drives.  Laptops differ very much from desktops in that you are extremely limited with upgrade options.  Even if by some chance you found an i7 that's compatible with your mobo (which you won't) your laptop's PSU isn't designed to power an i7.  Upgrading a laptop's motherboard is out of the question, so you're pretty much out of luck.  Sorry man but you're stuck with what you have

Ok I have been looking all over the internet and I have not found it. so I've got a laptop with a intel pentium and everything stock. I'm thinking about getting a new intel processor and I really would like some advice on everything I need for an upgrade. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Laptops aren't really known for being upgradable aside from RAM and HDD.. And even if it is, I don't know anywhere you can buy mobile CPU's.

For your laptop? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure Desktop CPUs and Laptop CPUs are completely different.

Don't waste your time, seems like a troll. 1 post, name and his subtle hint it's a laptop.

Aren't the CPU and GPU soldered onto the mobo? So you'd have to get a brand new mobo to upgrade either of those...

That is what I thought was usually the case. I could be wrong depending on what specific notebook the OP has.

CPU: i9-13900k MOBO: Asus Strix Z790-E RAM: 64GB GSkill  CPU Cooler: Corsair H170i

GPU: Asus Strix RTX-4090 Case: Fractal Torrent PSU: Corsair HX-1000i Storage: 2TB Samsung 990 Pro

Ok guys they are totally different but really i just need a cheap motherboard. sorry i haven't looked yet i just thought i could find something faster in a group .

ok, so now an absolutely completely different question. What do you need a mobo for, your Laptop or Desktop

Only most of the time. My 4 Dell Latitude business-class laptops all have upgrade-able CPUs

i have no idea what you are saying. You want to get a new mobo and CPU for your Laptop? That's not really possible, just buy a gaming PC

It's a laptop and I probally want to open it so i can actually see what i;'ve got in it. i'll tell you what i've got in it ASAP

That would be helpful, i think.
