Is my GPU dead?

Okay after my screens not having a signal today I went in and investigated.

 

So after trying and trying and trying and searching etc I found out my GPU is not detected.

 

- It is not detected in the BIOS (All other devices attached to it were detected though) and it is also not detected in Windows.

 

- I have tried the first and second PCI-E slot, not detected

 

- The BIOS is set to use PCI-E,  100% check

 

- The power connectors are in properly and fully, 100% check

 

- Flashed and updated the BIOS, maybe, something would happen? Nope

 

- Updated all mobo drivers, nope

 

- Reinstalled the Intel HD graphics, nope, GPU not detected in the proces

 

- CMOS battery taken out and put back in 4 minutes later, doesn't help

 

I can not install Catalyst Control Center because the GPU is not detected

 

I can only use onboard graphics (using it now)

 

The GPU itself has the fans spinning and everything.

 

 

 

So is my GPU dead? Or is it the PCI-E slots?

Can you try it with another card. Or is that the only one you have?

Only one I have :(

 

As it didn't work in other slots, probably time to get a new GPU. 

What do they know of England, who only England know?

My GTX 480 still had it's fans spinning even though the power REG blew.

Look slightly to the left of the CHiL chip (Voltage chip)

Some cards have 2 bios, some are easier to find than others, for example my vapor-x has a button on the front to turn on the Boosted bios.

 

The thiing is that, if on the RMA they used the same bios, then that's weird.

Indeed.

 

I am going to try the bios thing when it gets back tomorrow.

 

If that doesn't work and if a Windows reinstall doesn't work either then I am stumped.
