Help me decide which Card to buy.

So i'm upgrading my PC, i'm getting a i7 4790k and I don't know if i should get a R9 290x or a GTX 970, which is better?

 

I use my PC for gaming, thats pretty much it, I don't need CUDA to render or anything like that.

 

Please could someone help me out

The 970 is more powerful than the 290X, but costs more. The 970 will give you higher FPS in games, generally better driver support and other benefits for the money. If you are playing at 1080p, stick with the 290X, there is no point in spending any more money
