Hey

I will be building a pc really soon.

I have to CPUs in mind:

Xeon e3 1230v3 - basically a locked i7 without graphics slightly downclocked.

I5 4690k - nothing to say here other than unlocked.

What will be better? I will be streaming, recording, possibly editing a little. The Xeon is a little more expensive that the I5, and the motherboard wont change since I need some of the Z-series functions for both.

CPU: I7 4790K(4.6@1.252v)                               Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Windowed(Black)           Cooler: CM 212 EVO + NF F12 iPPC

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

MoBo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger                      Graphics: MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr (1494MHZ Core)       OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

Since you're streaming as well I recommend getting the Xeon E3 1231v3 (Haswell Refresh). Pair it with the MSI Z97 PC Mate and you might be able to overclock the xeon slightly. I have an I5-2400 (Non-k) yet I can still up the multiplier to 38 (4 above turbo)

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

I wont get the refresh edition, then i might as well go for an i7 for that price (2000dkk danish crowns for the 1231 and about the same for a 4770k)

How about a Z87 G45 motherboard?
