Removing Graphics Cards

Go to solution Solved by SkilledRebuilds,

To be fair, the force required by some latch's/parts can be very concerning for a lot of people, so don't feel singled out by this either.

Hello everyone,

Hoping you can help me to remove my GPU

I have a radeon R9 290 in the top PCI-E slot on my z97 PC Mate.

I have not been able to remove it at all, ive tried various things but i dont want to damage anything.

Yes I have tried removing the screws on the IO plate, the problem is the damn lock. Its not the simpler latch which you kind of bend to the side, rather its a large flat thing. I have no idea how to remove it.....

Help?

push the big blue tab at the end towards the mobo it might be quite stiff

You probably have to push the tab down, that's the way it's worked on a couple of the mobo's for the PCs I've worked on/built.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

^ Dis. It is really simple. Just push on it (inwards) and then gently remove the GPU from the PCI-E slot.

See everyone is saying push down as if I haven't tried that hehe. IT just seem way to stiff to be a simple push motion, I will end up warping/breaking the mobo fi i push any harder.

If i have the PC with the mobo parallel to the table, do I push down on the tab, do I push towards the IO, towards the front of the case?

Usually it's not either, (but pushing downwards on the tab as it's orientated)

This double push tab?...looks like a right bitch to get to with a GPU in the way.

It should be fairly simple to be honest.

Tweet MSI and ask why it's so bloody stiff, and if it's maybe got a fault.

You push it towards the motherboard.

push it towards the mobo, so it bends backwards , so if you're sat facing the mobo inside your case push the big blue flat part towards the motherboard ,

Hmmmm, ok thanks everyone for the help.

The thing is I have been doing this all along, and it is just so stiff that it hurt to push, and I can see the motherboard flexing against the pressure I'm putting on it. I guess I''m not pushing hard enough?
