PC crashing *R-R-R-R-R*

Go to solution Solved by ionbasa,

So all of the dump files point to the nvidia driver. You mentioned you were running 344.16, can you please try updating to this driver here: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/79891/en-us

The driver I linked to  is version 344.75.

The dump file pretty much point out one issues: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE.

Here is the a debug output for informational purposes:

If even after updating the driver, and still experience these crashes, try rolling back to a previous driver version. If that still does not work, it may possibly be a bad GPU, and I would recommend getting it RMA'd.

I still think that the psu is the problem.A simple gpu can't cause such problems nor the mb expansion slot.

Then why do i have exacly the same problem with a different PSU while the voltage is good?

Check if everything is plugged in securely? Any loose connections could be causing the problem. I suggest that you also look at event viewer in windows control panel under administrative tools. Perhaps it has some clues about the crash.

Replugged everything and made sure its all plugged in correcly.

try a different PCIe slot on the motherboard for the graphics card before you determine something dead.

EDIT: You have determined it is not the PSU, not the RAM, not the CPU, not the OS, whats left? Mobo, and GPU.

You can also try updating your BIOS to the latest version.

But it is looking like mobo.

Try a different PCIe slot, and if it still crashes, put your GPU in another computer and see if it crashes.

GPU is in a different system at the moment, lets see if it crashes that system as well. My current system is running on a GT 610 at the moment. lets see what happens there if that crashes ill switch it to a different PCIe slot

If you want to know for sure. Run Prime95, Aida64, or OCCT and if it doesnt crash then it will point to the GPU being the cause as it stresses the CPU.

Clearly something damaged the gpu.I didn't think it is because is new but again it may also be the mb as someone suggested

Just ran Prime95, without any issues

Yes that is why i first tested it with the GT 610, since it does not reqruire any extra power it did run fine, i just did a 2nd test with the GTX 260 (My old GPU :D) and that one worked fine as well with 2x6 pin so the PSU is not the problem i think

Personally, I think everyone in this thread is getting it wrong so far. But that is beside the point.

I watched the video you posted on YouTube and I do have some comments to make and point out some important information for others to notice as well next time. While benchmarking, your monitor cut out and then Windows did a hard restart.

This is reminiscent of a BSOD, as a BSOD typically has a similar behavior. In this case you may not have actually seen the "blue screen" because the GPU driver crashed for whatever reason. I would like to ask if there are any dump files you can see under the folder "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" in Windows explorer. If there are any recent ".dmp" files, please copy them to your desktop the zip them, and finally post on your favorite file sharing website, like Dropbox, Mega, or Google Drive, etc.

Also, I may have missed it in your posts, but what driver version do you currently have installed?

Looks like the GTX 970 is the problem because it is the common component in both your computers when it crashed.

...

^Exactly. Although he did test his GPU which caused crashing, it is also important to note which drivers he was running, and the stack that caused the crash.

ha ha, good point. I haven't had any nvidia or amd drivers cause any crashes in the last 6 years. However, this is something that should be considered regardless.

You can't open the dump files on your own. Give me like 15-20 minutes to look through all the dump files you sent me to check if anything in particular stands out.

If even after updating the driver, and still experience these crashes, try rolling back to a previous driver version. If that still does not work, it may possibly be a bad GPU, and I would recommend getting it RMA'd.

Tried different drivers and its still not working, the card is RMA now

Looks like the GPU. RMA it.

EDIT: Read other posts. Grab the dump files from your friends computer, and post those too please.

The card is RMA but here is the dumb file http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=00075266153567032562

Mark the topic as solved while the card is on RMA, if you need anything after the new card arrives, I am still following this post.

Hello everyone, my new GTX 970 just arrived inside the mail. This one works perfectly fine. i ran Valley benchmark a couple of times and it runs quite smooth. on Extreme HD preset i'm getting a 2,7k score!

To say sorry the company gave me a 2nd coupon code for the 900 series! so i already got far cry 4. now i just have to decide if i want the crew or assassins creed unity!

Thank you!
