I am building a new rig from scratch this year. I am either selling my old PC as a set or sell off the parts individually. This and money I will receive at the end of this year is going to fund the beast. So far I have chosen the following components.

PROCESSOR:

Intel Core i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150)

RAM :

Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz

Graphics Card:

Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 Strix Graphics Card (4GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0)

Motherboard:

1150 ASUS Z97 MAXIMUS VII RANGER Motherboard

Storage SSD:

Corsair HDSSD 5 128GB Force LX SATA III Solid State Drive

Storage:

WD 1 TB 3.5-inch Internal Hard Drive - Black

CPU cooler:

Corsair h100i  or  Corsair h80i

PSU:

Corsair AX Series AX860 860W Platinum Power Supply

Case:

Corsair CC-9011046-WW Graphite Series 730T Full Tower ATX

I am open to any criticism or changes you would make. This is not definite parts I want to see what the geek wizards think. Post away!

That's a damn good rig....

I would get a HyperX Fury red colored RAM sticks just because I like the looks more, but that's just my preference...

Since you're gonna have such nice components, a case with a side window woudn't hurt so you can show it off to your friends :D

But, again, that's my preference lol

Thanks, I mostly play dayz and arma so the switch to nvidea and intel was an obvious switch. I am open to suggestions about any part. I was thinking of getting 2x4 Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R and a  2x4 CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9. One set is red and the other black. I think they are exactly the same just different ram cases (red and black) so I was wondering if that was possible.

Yea, that RAM configuration should work.

Enjoy the rig. Btw, get ready to stare at that Strix 970 because that s*it is freakin' goregous :D

Yeah, once I first looked at the strix I fell in love. ASUS is such a great company. The card goes with the colour scheme and looks beautiful. i think the red and black ram in the red and black slots will look AMAZING!

Snip

Any reason why the ROG mobo, i7, 16GB and 970? The reason I ask is you're buying  a Gaming MOBO then buying  overkill for gaming CPU, Ram, and then not getting the best graphics card you could... Also I noticed the total Asus+Corsair theme; But Corsairs SSDs are "meh" they're about average and pricing is higher than average I'd suggest looking into a different SSD like Samsung 840 Evo, Crucial MX100, ect...  WD Blacks are really overpriced I'd suggest getting a Blue, Green, Red, or Seagate's Barracuda...

5820k4Ghz/16GB(4x4)DDR4/MSI X99 SLI+/Corsair H105/R9 Fury X/Corsair RM1000i/128GB SM951/512GB 850Evo/1+2TB Seagate Barracudas
