ASUS M5A97

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

Well i need a computer, but i don't think its worth spending money on something that has crappy ass motherboard sections lol. I know future games will use more cores, but damn lol.

the ud3p is cheap and defenetly worth it the fx is no sloutch.

Is it a good motherboard to overclock my 8350 to about 4.2 GHz - 4.4 Ghz with a 212 evo w/ SP120?

It's only 4+1, I wouldn't do too heavy of OCs on it

No, the GA-970A-UD3P is 8+2

Also can your recommend me a cheap good am3+ motherboard?

The one i ordered arrived damaged.... so i sent it back and didn't want a new one..

How bout dis one? http://www.amazon.com/M5A99FX-PRO-R2-0-990FX-Motherboard/dp/B008B6ONXK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416113412&sr=8-2&keywords=ASUS+am3%2B

You could reach that speed, but again it would depend on the chip too. If your gonna buy a M5A97, then please buy the M5A97 R2.0(THE NON LE VERSION) , the LE version has no VRM cooling which is something important for OC'd FX CPUs.

The other board you mention dosn't have a 8+2 power phase, i think it has a 4+2 power phase.  The Gigabyte 970A-UD3P is the only 970 board and the cheapest board with a 8+2 power phase.

the m5a97 EVO is the 6+2 board

this 8+2 board is better and cost less:

Standard M5A97 is 4+1, the EVO version is the one with 6+2.

The best AM3+ board for the money IMO is the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P, as I stated above, as iirc it's the only 8+2 970 board.
