Lets have a (somewhat) mature conversation about Apples Keynote. :D

Stream:  "Watch streaming video from the special event online or via Apple TV" http://www.apple.com...ents/june-2013/  / Starting: Keynote: Monday, June 10th at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 5PM GMT / 6PM BST / 2AM JST (Tues) /  (Made this thread so: we, the users of the forum, do not flood the forum with similar threads. Lets have it all in one place! If any staff member of LTH disagree, feel free to delete/Move this thread. ) / My other thread: (Pre-event) http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/24928-wwdc-in-less-than-2-hours/ / (This thread is in general discussion due of it's "past news" when the keynote is finished. This way the thread also gets more exposure.) / Source: http://www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2013/ http://www.theverge....-coverage-at-12 http://www.macrumors...apples-website/

Anyone will be on IRC or some kind so we could chat during the keynote ? That'd be awesome

Edit: Found One:

https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.snoonet.org/kiwi/irc.snoonet.org/apple?settings=dd892af474749b032ba39bb88a8894d9

Replace #kiwi with #Apple

Choose a Username

This is the IRC chat for /r/Apple. People seem pretty chill inside.

iOS 7 is odd for me. I really like some parts of its design and hate other parts of it, like the icons. Some of the icons are nice, but then there's the ones with odd gradients, and funky glyphs (i.e. Game Center). It feels unrefined and rushed.

I found it strange that they didn't announce Haswell in all if their laptops. Especially MBP-R, which probably needs the extra graphics more than anyone

Hopefully it comes in Sept!

What do you guys think the Mac Pro's price will be?

Long time to wait though...

I think the price will be just like one would expect for a workstation, far too high for anyone with a consumer user scenario. Entry will of course depend on configurations, I would suspect the lowest tier one will cost in the bracket of a higher end MBP 15"

As for Mavericks: Nothing new really, apart from tabs for finder and iBooks (tag like things for spotlight already exist, and multidisplay is already pretty well supported). Why are they marketing this as the next new big innovative thing?

Quick wrap up for anyone that missed it

Apple is adding a bunch of features to OSX that I, as a Windows and Android user reacted to with "wait, you couldn't do that already?" and also called it Mavericks because they ran out of cats.

They're updating their laptops to use intel's new, more power efficient, processors and Wireless AC. Just like everyone else is right now.

They made iOS more Android-y and also borrowed a lot from Windows Phone 8. The biggest change is using flat icons instead of the old glossy style ones.

The new Mac Pro looks like a garbage can, has zero expansion options except for maybe the memory, but does have some pretty good specs with Crossfire FirePro graphics cards. Granted if the old Mac Pro is any indication those cards will be at last one generation old before the thing is released, last gen Mac pro was still using 5000 series Radeon cards when we are now on the 7000 series and 8000/9000 might be getting announced tomorrow. They also adding a TON of thunderbolt ports.

Apple added an android beam like function accept that you share over wifi instead of touching phones.

Apple launched iTunes Radio, to the surprise of no one.

I got board and stopped watching right around here.

Overall, probably the most underwhelming WWDC I've personally watched. Not a lot of innovation. They made some tweaks, they borrowed a lot from other platforms (which is why I get so pissed when they sue other platforms over mundane shit) they made a terrible looking, good performing Mac Pro, updated their laptops to current gen ships and wifi standards, and that was about it.

Since the transition to 64bit, OS X has always been about the incremental updates. That being said, I'm really looking forwards to the new multi screen functionality, that for me might actually be worth the upgrade price alone :D

I think i will still be happy with snow leopard since I am only using it on a MacBook.

The multiscreen updates caught me most off guard in the "wait, they didn't already have that?" category.

That's one way of looking at it, the other way would be that they implemented some functionality that they have had on their computers for some time (about two years for the end users) ;)

I actually enjoyed the updates. It seemed like Apple put a lot of work into the updates, and IOS 7 actually looks decent. While the new Mac Pro may look weird, it is unparalleled in its performance to size ratio, and with a PCI-E ssd, Apple is finally putting ssds in their Mac Pro. It actually is expandable, and their idea was to make it small so you can expand via the new thunderbolt 2, instead of expanding internally.

i think apple is trying to do some of their old marketing moves and release everything in a stagger, that way one person buys multiple products over a period of a year instead of one all at once.

its a bit simpler then the desktop solution, thus the android beam comparison. On the desktop solution you have to navigate to the file you went to send and select where to send it, with this you just hit the share function and, like android beam, the OS actualy figures out what of the things currently on your screen you want to send and then it opens it up to anyone on the same network. the other people are then given a simple option to accept or reject that share. at least thats how I understood it, i could be wrong.
