Hello everyone I recently installed VLC on my computer and am wondering if it is able to play DvDs in HD?

DVDs in HD?

DVDs are only max widescreen SD, 720x480. The "HD DVD" format that allowed for up to 1080p video to be stored on what is technically a "DVD" is long dead, now you'll need Blu-Ray if you want high-def video that you buy on an optical storage medium.

Yea Sorry I meant to say can it work with blue ray? That question was poorly formatted. Thank you for the response though.

VLC is able to play Blu-Rays in HD, given your PC has a Blu-Ray drive.

Blu-Ray support is experimental, also the top level menus do not work at the moment, and the disk playlist may not be the proper one chosen to play the entire movie.

But it works most of the time.
