If you and your friends have wheels, then check out Assetto Corsa. Looks really nice and runs quite well now but its not very good with a controller unfortunately.

F1 2014

Assetto Corsa

I love the F1 games but I wouldn't recommend F1 2014. It's a reskin with new engine sounds. No graphics upgrade, no mechanical upgrades, no UI changes, just new car models and sounds. Rip off. Get F1 2013 if you want to race single seaters. Don't get me wrong, all the F1 codemasters games are great but don't rip yourself off.

In fact, pretty much all the codies racers are great, just don't get the colin mcrea steam game since it's an ios/android port, not the PS2 classic.

Forza 1-4

The Horizon games are also great if you prefer open world/street racing to tracks. I've had a lot of fun in both of those games!

Hello,

I would like to have some reccomendations about racing games that support direct online racing with friends,..

I'd avoid pretty much all the newer NFS games. If you want something you can just dick around with, Burnout Paradise is EPIC and still holds up well after all this time (and has been free on both steam and origin in the past!). The Dirt and Grid series' of games are also great looking and fun to play. Dirt 3 and Grid 2 are my picks from those since they offer great lists of cars and good number of tracks to have fun on.

I don't get on so well with sims that are super deep. I love the console racers like Forza and GT but games like Asseto Corsa and rFactor just intimidate me since I'm not into setup/tuning of cars and I feel like those games require a lot of prep before you race which is great if you like that kind of thing.

I'd say get 2012 if you really want an F1 game with stable online without cars ghosting everywhere.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

Sim racing or arcade racing?

This^

If sim then I'd suggest Live For Speed, rFactor, iRacing, Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom Racing Experience(Free), Project C.A.R.S., Race 07, DTM Experience, GTR 2,

What's the multiplayer in Assetto Corsa like now? Haven't played in a while.

For arcade I suggest The Crew, Grid1/2/Autosport(2 is the most arcade, 1 is midway and Autosport is more sim), Dirt3(1&2 no longer have multiplayer), Test Drive Unlimited 1/2(1 requires a mod to play on a third party server), Burnout Paradise, Trackmania(2 has a practically unlimited demo), Drift City(Free), NFS World(Free), WRC 4.

Midways could be Grid Autosport, NFS Shift 2, Auto Club Revolution(Free), Simraceway(Free). Codemasters F1 Series.

Can't think of much more off the top of my head.

I prefer Grid 2 and Dirt 3 right now. Those are my favorites, although I haven't tried Grid Autosport yet. They are basically the exact same game (Codemasters) except with rally cars and street cars. If you like one you will probably like the other. Great graphics on both.

F1 2014 is £10 on g2a. Probably not much more expensive than 2013, so if it is just a reskin it's still worth a tenner.
