Gigabyte Z87X UD3H + Intel Core i7 4790k = problems?

Just boot directly into UEFI and turn off auto voltage to manual or adaptive.

Harro people of LTT! I'm thinking of upgrading my 4670K in my rig to a 4790k because the 4670k can't handle what I want to do on my rig. I know that my board supports the 4790k with a bios update but would there be any issues with my system because I heard a while back that JayzTwoCent's Z87X UD3H almost killed his 4790k by putting a shit ton of voltage on it. Is that sonething I should be weary of?

You should have updated the bios which supports the 4790k with the 4670k first before swapping CPUs

^^ This. I think F9 is the you need. And I hope yours is easier than mine was. I had to go F7 -> F8 in Q-Flash and do the F9 update with @BIOS.

As I stated before. I already know it's supported wih a bios update. I just wanted to know if the board would put a ton of voltage on it, but thanks for telling me about the bios flashing anyway :)
