I am trying to install windows 7 on my friends Asus q550lf. I already unlocked the UEFI and put it into AHCI mode, and my win7 usb is booting and getting to the install page, though when I progress forward, It states, " cd/dvd device driver missing." which I find odd since it is a usb install, though I browse and find the driver from the asus website, it installs but says no devices found. I need some help. Thanks in advance, and this is why I hate laptops that restrict Installations...

My uncle has an ASUS K-series which I installed win7 on

disable secureboot, enable csm, which i suspect you have already done

i have installed it once with the drivers, but after his drive died (he took the notebook on holiday and the people in charge of luggage dropped it or something) i couldnt get the drivers to work

the solution was to create two partitions, install windows 8 on the second one, load the windows 7 installer and install to the first partition, then erase the second one, then extend it to fill the drive.

windows 7 now works :)

i hate modern laptops and prebuilts :/ fucking annoying.

pc specs: 4 function calculator / 8 digit lcd display / colored numeric and function buttons
