Well my computer boots, gets in to window hexagon thing then stops. It sits there for a while then BSOD.

well what mobo do you have and is the ram led lit up if not then mos tlikley hdd also is the hdd activity monitor flashing during the bsod

Between the two, RAM. If HDD failed, PC wouldn't boot at all. However it might be another issue like bad drivers or windows install

I would pull up the website for Seagate's SEAtools. Even if you don't have a Seagate drive, they have instructions on how to create a bootable disc to diag your hard drive. I would also do the same for your memory using memtest just to make sure that those pieces are not at fault.

What version of Windows are you running?
