What Intel Should I go for?

Go to solution Solved by Clyne,

A i5 4690K will be fine for those games you are playing, a i7 isn't necessary unless you were doing heavy workloads of stuff. And a Hyper 212 evo cannot fit in a Fractal Design Core 1000.

So, I've got a 760k. I also have a 270x. For Christmas, I was gonna treat myself to some upgrades, if you know what I mean :D Anyways, should should I get an i7 4790k or an i5 4690k? Would the i7 be TOTALLY overkill for gaming and recording gameplay? I don't have to MAX out every game, the 270x might not be able to do that. But which CPU should I get? I play games like TF2, CS:GO, L4D2, COD: BLOPS 2, COD: AW, Battlefield 4, and Titanfall. And Minecraft here and there, but I like to play on 360 :P Budget is not really a concern, but I am currently, let's say, skimping out on the case. Should I get the i5 and get a prodigy with a HYPER 212 EVO? Does the EVO fit in a Core 1000? I will be overclocking either of them :P

i7 would be overkill.

Go with an i5, if you're not planning to overclock don't get the unlocked one.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Thanks, I'll treat myself to the prodigy and a new monitor, with a GOOD refresh rate! SCREW YOU 30hz CRT!

The case I chose supports a 240mm rad. Can you recommend a slim CPU cooler?liquid cooler

Check out NZXT and Corsair, and if you want to treat yourself, look at Swifttech's 220X.
