A buddy of mine asked me to build a budget minded gaming rig for around 1000€ and this is what I came up with. (I actually stayed within the budget. PC-Partpicker just doesn't know the right stores ;) )

He made an additional request that the system should be 3D capable for his 3DTV. Not only 3D Blu-Ray but games in 3D, too.

Now AMD seem to have a technology for that, but the information on their website is fairly limited and doesn't really list any Games or much useful stuff at all.

So my question is:

Has someone on this forum experience with 3D Gaming on AMD GPUs and would this one be kind enough to tell me a bit about his/her experience? :)

Thanks

Trade the fx-6300 for a FX-8320/8350, and get a GTX 970 rather than the r9 290x for about the same price to get the 3D

Also try to purchase the CPU/Mobo from microcenter as they seem to have the best combo prices.

CPU: AMD FX-8320                                                                                  Cooler: Corsair H100i

GPU: Crossfired Gigabyte R9 280x's Windforce Rev.2                      MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-990FX-UD3

RAM: AMD Radeon Gaming Memory 16gb DDR3 2133mhz            PSU: TR2 RX750W Bronze

HDDS: AMD Radeon SSD 240gb, 1tb Seagate Barracuda               Case: Corsair Air 540

1000€ and only a 6300 is kinda  not ok i think

It's for gaming only so he should be fine.

oh, and before someone goes "just buy nvidia!" since i'm using an AMD CPU here I'd like to use mantle, but if there is no other choice i'll probably still go nvidia then. I just want to hear some experiences first.

Mantle is great, but there is word going around that mantle will be opening up to nvidia cards as well.

I am one of those AMD fanboys, and if you want 3d go with nvidia, if 3d isnt a huge need then go AMD r9 280x/r9 290x

The r9 280x's run cooler than the r9 290x's, if heat isnt an issue get the r9 290x

If its only for gaming get an  i5.less heatoutput and much better in gaming then and  frx 8350.

also get a single 290x and not   2x 280x.but honestly the gtx 970 is superior...it doesnt heat up your room and you dont need to wear headphones.

also linus will release  his holiday gaming build soon

um, guys, this is going in the wrong direction.

This topic is about "does AMD do 3D" not "rip a build apart which is subject to change anyway"

Yes AMD does 3D. Done. That said nvidia is said to be better at 3D and AMD Radeon is better when running muti monitor gaming.
