Corsair H100i Fan choice

Go to solution Solved by Hyydrah,

QE series. So up to me, doesn't really matter in my case? I dont plan on buying any other fans.

Those will work great.

Hi, quick question before i install it.
Is it best to use the fans which come in the box or use some Corsair SP series fans? The only difference i can see is the rubber mounts?
Cheers

Noise plays a big factor, and temperatures will differ. What fans do you have, QE or PE?

Yeah, there would be no reason to replace the stock fans with SP series fans, and you would see a minimal performance benefit. However, if you went with something like Noctua Nf-f12s, you would see a difference.

the stock fans are loud so the quiet editions will give you a noticeable noise difference so if you care about noise then it is worth it. You may lose a couple degrees in temp using the quiet edition as they spin slower though.

yeah that and the coloured rings are the only difference

the SP120L

rpm: 2700rpm

air-flow: 77cfm

static pressure: 4.0mm/h2o

sound level: 37.68dbA

the SP120PE

rpm: 2350rpm

air-flow: 63cfm

static pressure: 3.1mm/h2o

sound level: 35dbA

the SP120QE

rpm: 1450rpm

air-flow: 38cfm

static pressure: 1.29mm/h2o

sound level: 23dbA

big differences just from cosmetics..

sorry, i didnt know :) but if you use a fan controller and put them all at the same speed it will be ALMOST the same

They have different characteristics as well if you extrapolate the ratio of pressure vs airflow.

false.

same speed doesn't extrapolate (ghost word) give you almost the same.

pressure and noise are not linear motions like in rpm. it'd be a gross

error to assume they are like, just lower rpm function fans.

the SP120L @ 1450 (SP120QE speed) is more powerful in flow and pressure,

but also has more wind noise, too. a little surgie as well. comes out to 6.3v.

the SP120L @ 2350 (SP120PE speed) is bonkers better, but again one noisy

fan which came in at 10.2v.

it is all in the windings of the motor. more turns more reliability with small gauge

wire, larger gauge wire less turns more rpm. more poles more static pressure

with less speed. only because you have limited space to stack the coil windings.

Im on a push pull config with the stock ones and SP120 quiets, just because they look sweet.
