Moving next week and im packing up my desktop shipping my case through the mail and the dedicates are coming with me on the plane! Now my question is i threw away my cpu clamshell esd packaging... But my cpu is currently in my motherboards socket all snug and safe would it be safe to just put the motherboard in a esd bag with the processor in the socket while i fly? my entire trip should take about 6 hours and my computer should be up and running about an after after i get to my new place do you guys think this is safe wouldnt want to buy a new cpu though that devils canyon i7 has been giving me the eye ;)

I'd just ship the whole desktop as is, cept for HDDs and the GPU(s), unless it's watercooled ofc. As long as the rest is screwed down tight it should be fine to just leave everything in the case.

with the recent horror stories of ups shipping fully build desktops and their "insurance" programs not covering them im terrified to ship like that...

Well, you need to pack the case properly if you want it to survive. In Norway "our insurence don't cover this" won't fly for even 1 second, so I'm not so worrid about stuff like that, don't know how the rules are where you live though :S

If you have a big heatsink, take it off! stock heatsink should be fine since those are quite small.
