I always wanted a smartwatch, and I fell in love with the Moto360 design. Now, the watch is somewhere around 300, the GPU I want is 350 (970 replacing 660ti), and I have about 350 to spend. If I am happy with my setup, should I go for the watch? Anyone have or seen one and would like to share a quick review? Anything would be helpful :)

Or this: http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-940-81761-2500-000-SHIELD-Tablet-WiFi/dp/B00LM6KF7O I have a Droid Maxx, laptop, and gaming desktop. Think it will fill in the gap of portable productivity?

Let me ask you a few questions.

1) What would you like the moto 360 to bring to your life?

2) Why spend any money at all? You are happy with your PC and prices for computer parts always drop. The Moto 360 is an awesome toy but other than a heartbeat sensor will it improve your life more than keeping 300$ and investing it?

Well, you now... here is just a small list for the watch:

1. Allows me to access my phone when I'm not on my phone (Email, music selection, notifications)

2. Its a watch, something I love to wear and use very often.

3. Supporting future development of even better products, the smartwatch would be non-existent without the pebble.

I honestly don't need anything, but I love spending money on gadgets that are useful and no one else has (Casio Prism graphing calculator for example)

Personally I'd have no doubt and get a GTX 970. I can't really find any reason for which I'd need a smartwatch (hell, I haven't even changed my nokia 5800 yet, I just don't feel the need to. It's a phone, if I need anything more I can use my nexus 7).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Do you think any other card will come out within a year (So by the end of next july) that will have a better price/performance than this card? If so, I might hold off. But I could always SLI and keep in the game for a few more years, right? I hate thinking about how a rig will be almost useless in the future...

I'd avoid the Moto 360 because of the apparently crippling battery life that's apparently due to a really old cheap microprocessor. Still waiting for the right smartwatch.

IMO at this point the Pebble is the only smartwatch that is worth its price and it's not good enough for me.

Fair enough, I love the design but can agree that the features are lacking for the price point.

On a side note, what do you guys think of an Nvidia Sheild Tablet? I would have the option to gamestream (don't have the best network connection, using 4g verizon phone hotspot), use it as a web browser which is better than a smartphone and smaller than a laptop, and is a full android tablet thats about to get Android L.

I love the Moto 360 design too, but I can't stand the idea of a third gadget to charge everyday. Smartphone, Tablet, Smartwatch.

The only reason I could see to own a smartwatch or wearable is for heartbeat or health monitoring. The nvidia shield tablet is good but if your looking for resolution overload you should look at a samsung galaxy tab s or pro. 2560x1600 on an 8.4" screen. The nvidia tablet is awesome in it's own right: game streaming, nvidia stylus (does the tablet come with the stylus?), balls to the wall mobile GPU.

You tried buddy. I have ambient on + auto brightness, and get upwards of 200 notifications daily.

Well, amd's new offerings are not supposed to come out for a few months more. Either way for your setup a 970 is good enough. I'm running 4k on an R9 290 (yep, just one) and it's going a lot better than I thought.

Waiting is never a bad choice in pc tech, it all depends on wether you want an upgrade now or are willing to wait. if you're willing to wait, do so until your 660ti just won't cut it anymore.

cheap/old gpus are often underrated, you'd be surprised how much you can get out of them if you lower just a couple of (honestly kind of snake oil-ish) settings such as ambient occlusion and aa. I can tell you for personal experience a 550ti can run bioshock infinite at high/ultra at 1080p if you just take away those two options. Perhaps "every game" is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not far from the truth.

A 970 for 1080p is simply overkill. BUT, he does have 3 monitors...  B)

Ambient occlusion is a pretty neat lighting and shadow effect, and AA is a must for any res below 1440p.

But by all means if you think OP spending $300 on a watch with a heart monitor makes more sense do present your argument.
