First Build - Project Ares

The Pizza Thief

Hey guys I just finished building my very first PC. Let me see what you guys think any feedback will be greatly appreciated either bad or good. I did all of it myself with a lot of help from Linus and his videos. I'm not sure if I should break it down in here or just link the pcpartpicker link so here it is. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/BjBPxr

PSU, monitor and mouse were bad buys

The rest is ok (although overpriced)

You should really ask in the forum before builing a rig.

@H4X3R

Or a better 144hz monitor, the vg248q/e is pretty old compared to what benq and other manufacturers offer. The colour is too bad on that monitor (even after calibration). My xl2411z at STOCK looks much better than my bros vg248q. Oh and the new xl series offers more features like antibluelight, etc.

Hmm, I'll be going with a pair of BenQ monitors (GW2765HT) myself for my planned build. :)

I know it is overpriced, I started buying from amazon since I have a prime subscription and I didn't know Newegg even existed.

Why is the PSU a bad buy? I know the monitor is not really good and is very washed out at the beginning. I already installed lightboost, and tweaked the settings a little bit and also installed a profile. It looks very decent as of now. I couldn't find a 144 monitor cheaper than that one. Mouse ? I didn't catch any bad reviews from that one. What you mean ? Thanks for the feedback, I know I should have been more patient, but I got really exited about building my first computer. In the future I'm sure I will know better.

Sure @

Link to why PSU was not the BEST choice (still a decent one): http://www.overclock.net/t/1455892/why-you-might-not-want-to-buy-a-corsair-rm-psu

The M65 has a laser sensor (worse for gaming because it has worse tracking (i'd say smoothness) (a better choice would've been a steelseries rival (also rgb) or a logitech g402/g502), better if you use your mouse on tiles (eg bathroom tiles)).

my bro has the M65 (non rgb) and i have tried the naga 2013 and steelseries rival, both are much better in MMO and FPS games in my experience (haven't tried any others).

Thanks for the link, I'm going to take a close look as soon as I get back from this weekend's trip.

I read somewhere that a laser sensor is not the best option for FPS gaming but I didn't pay much attention as it was only one comment against many more positive. I'm positive that in the future if I need any replacement or upgrade I will be a lot more careful balancing my $/performance. Thanks man!
