Keyboard case painting

Having purchased a Ducky Shine 3, I'm eager to get the case painted to match my G600 white mouse. I've got the paints and sandpaper I need picked out on amazon etc.

 

I've not hit 'buy' yet as I'm worried about the weather... In the UK the temperatures have just plummeted and it's raining more often (surprise, right?), and I'm pretty sure this is bad for aerosol painting.

 

Is this a terrible time to be spray painting things outside? Do I just need a little patience?

 

Any other tips for case painting are much appreciated - I'm a relative newbie when it comes to modding.

@Napalm Death Best thing you could do is do it in a garage or possibly in a room that you don't use so that you could ventilate the fumes out later. Rain may cause the print to dry for longer because of the higher humidity in the atmosphere. For most spray painting you want to keep it above 20C and less than 60% humidity for ideal painting conditions, it does depend on the brand of paint since each one can vary their parameters. If you have a garage or workspace it would be better since you can control the environment by heating or cooling it to keep relatively stable temperatures. I have applied paint in non-ideal conditions of <15C with low humidity which did have slight curing issues whereby it took 2-3 times as long for the paint to full cure and harden.

That geekhack post - I've been pouring over it for weeks - it's actually why I decided to begin this project in the first place! What a wonderful thread.

 

I know a guy who owns a shop which does a lot of model spraying, so I think I'll make the purchases and talk to him - see if I can use his space.
