I need an sli program

Hello, i have a mobo with 2 pci x16 slots for gpus and it does not say on the box if it supports sli. it says crossfire but no sli. i currently have a 650ti boost from msi and and wish to add another because i have heard it scales very well. i remember seeing something on this forum about a program that allows my mobo to sli but i have since forgotten the name, anyone have any ideas? i appreciate it very much.

Normally you cannot add SLI with a program, SLI has to be supported by the motherboard itself

Its possible that functionality can be unlocked via a bios update

What motherboard is it?

90% sure that if the motherboard says it can't, then it can't.

The thing is, it never says anywhere on the box that it cant, maybe that's just a marketing thing because i sure fell for it, when i first built my pc i was kind of a noob and did not check up on that, i assumed 2 ports, 2 gpus. i really do want to sli because i am amazed how well it works with this card.

they obviously dont put it right on the box if the board doesnt support something.

just do a google search for 'sli hack' and look if your motherboard is supported.

Unless you have a 2gb card, don't bother. You will be bottlenecked. Also, you are much better off selling your old card and getting one single card.

The second slot might be 16x but 4x in reality nvidia needs atleast 8x whereas crossfire can be done with lower so my guess is it is lower then 8x.

Alright then, that is a little different. Do you plan on building more computers in the future? 2 lower powered cards are great because you can sell them individually.

But for this case, it would be more money effective to spend the 120 you would spend on a motherboard and the money from the second card to get a stronger card. Thats what I recommend, get an r9-280 or GTX 760

Thing is i already have the pc and i see games like ac unity need a minimum of a 680 and 2 650ti boosts has a more that 100 percent fps increase, its pretty good in sli, plus all i have is 150.

If it says it supports crossfire but not sli, then it most likely means that the second pcie slot only runs in x4 mode with 2 gpus. Sli requires you to have at least x8 on each slot. Crossfire works with only x4 pcie slots, but high end cards will be bottlenecked by the lack of bandwidth. you probably can't add another 650ti for sli.

I'm not sure about this, but there might be some sort of hack or something to get sli to work in x4 mode. The 650ti's shouldn't be bottlenecked because they aren't that powerful individually. I don't know if that's possible though
