Picking the right CPU

I was wondering should I get an i5 or i7 for a gaming pc. :mellow:

If you have extra money or planning to do a lot of CPU-heavy tasks - i7, if not - i5.

I would go for a i5, if you gonna be doing some rendering go for i7 but i7 is overkill for most daily gaming

i5 is totally fine for gaming. But i7 if you can.

I5, the only difference be hyperthreading, two threads per core which games don't typically use all those threads. It's a developer thing really.

90% of the time an i5 is ok, but it's nice to have the extra power, plus it can have benefits in certain games like arma.

Depends on your budget. If you have to shave corners to get everything then going down a grade makes a lot of sense. Especially if it allows you to buy something more critical like a better gpu. If your budget isn't critical, buy me a computer. Or just get what you want. An i7 is lovely.

As the gentlemen above me said, if you're gaming and doing some light video editing, go for the i5, it gets the job done very well and out that extra money to your GPU or something else.

You should get an i5 if you are just gaming and no editing an i7 if you edit a little bit and play games and an i7 x99 if you render 3d models or if you are 4k gaming

No real reason to buy an i7. You know if you need an i7.
