i5 is totally fine for gaming. But i7 if you can.

I5, the only difference be hyperthreading, two threads per core which games don't typically use all those threads. It's a developer thing really.

90% of the time an i5 is ok, but it's nice to have the extra power, plus it can have benefits in certain games like arma.

Depends on your budget. If you have to shave corners to get everything then going down a grade makes a lot of sense. Especially if it allows you to buy something more critical like a better gpu. If your budget isn't critical, buy me a computer. Or just get what you want. An i7 is lovely.

I must say that hyperthreading gives an extra boost in video editing as well.  :)

That too, kinda just lumped that into the developer label in my mind
