Best 120/144 monitor in terms of color reproduction (sub/at ~$300-400)?

Advent

So I am going to be retiring my 4 way P2414H setup and moving over to 120/144 Hz monitors. I had one BenQ XL2420TE monitor but the color was so horrendous I sold it. I hardly ever used it.

I'm in the market for some 120/144Hz monitors that have really nice color reproduction (or about as good as you can get on a TN panel). Monitor should be 24 inches (no need for 27 inch monitors) and cost between $300-400 (if cheaper, that's fine).

Thoughts?

the 2420TE has one of the best color reproduction out there. (when you want 144Hz + 24") Maybe the ASUS Rog PG278Q (27") or the benQ Xl2430T have a great color reproduction. But when you really want the best or a monitor for photography and video editing there isnt really a great option with 120/144hz.

Do you have a calibration tool? The VG248QE isn't bad when calibrated, for a 6 bit TN. It's pretty damn blue otherwise, especially under LightBoost. I wouldn't use it for professional color work.

No I don't have a colorimeter or anything like that.

Not at all. The blacks were horrible and everything had a weird tint to it, even when adjusted and tweaked. The PG278Q is way out of my budget, whereas the Xl2430T is in budget.

Also these monitors won't be used for photography or video editing, they will be used for gaming, web browsing and movies.

I have the XL2420Z and the colors aren't bad at all. I think its the same panel as the XL2420TE though so I don't know what to tell ya.

I had the issue and sent it back and got another one with the same odd tinting. I messed with color sat and all kinds of things but it was still there, especially on the blacks. :\

Weird, is there any way for you to go to a local store and check that model out? Might have been a really unlucky case where you got sent 2 bad ones.

I've demo'd them at stores too. I chaulk it up to having more green/blue cones in my eye than a normal person, so I see green/blue color patterns differently than normal.

Yes for the most part. somethings were a bit too vibrant so I turned down some settings, but other than that they look great.

I guess its just that type of monitor that's causing the unpleasant colors to you then :/. If you really want the 144 hz I would recommend the ROG swift, but dat price tag doe.

I'd love to have 3-4 ROG Swifts lol.
