Very high ram usage

Go to solution Solved by Majestic,

What motherboard? I had a massive memory leak (98% of my 8GB ram being used) with my old mobo that had a Killer E2200 nic because their software is crap and was leaking it for some reason.

^^ This, i had the same with my MSI Z87i Gaming AC. Killer E2200 NIC causes memory leaks on the stock drivers provided by windows. Update ASAP from the MSI website, that fixes it.

Hello.

My fps drops down from 80 to 1 in alot of newer games, at first i though it has something to do with GPU but then i found out its ram. Even 4/5gb of ram is being used while idle (no games on etc etc) could this be a virus? I'd appreciate fast help

Pc specs -

GPU - MSI GTX 770 TWIN FROZR 2GB

CPU - I7 4790K

RAM - 2X4GB 1866

yea, probably, do a scan and see what's going on... also boot on safemode see if you have the same problem.

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

Use task manager to see what's eating up your RAM.

@TheRunningOtaku

I already checked up task manager and it comes out that firefox is eating 1,5gb of ram and rest are some processes that eat like 30mb/20 but quite alot of them.

Alright thanks, already followed :)

@MasterRaceFanBoy

Gonna boot it in safemode right now, so ill give info on it in a sec.

booted in safe mode, checked task manager and only 1,3gb ram is being used.

See what other processes are running, and where they're from.

Look in the lower right notifications bar to see if there's any malware running.

Also use something like AdwCleaner to remove any adware from your PC, or run a virus scan.

Alternatively, remove any programs that you think are running in the background and you don't want.

I remember trying to play BF4 with 4GB of ram, it wasn't fun. You should get another 4gb. once I upgraded my GPU And Ram from a 7750 and 4gb of ram to a 770 and 8 gb of ram BF4 ran smooth as butter.
