GTX 980 Power Question

Go to solution Solved by Real_PhillBert,

my psu is a cx750m and it has 2x 6+2 pin connectors aswell as 4 x 6 pin sata/molex etc

Just use the 2x 6+2 connectors and leave the +2's unconnected.

My GTX 980 has two 6 pin connectors and  i am wondering if i can use a split 6pin or do i need two separate cables from my power supply

It's not recommended, but it's possible if you're a complete madman

But if you have a 980 and you need a splitter cable for your PSU, maybe just get a new PSU...

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

Wait, does your PCI cable from the PSU have two 6+2 connectors on one end? If so you can do that and you are perfectly safe.

If your PSU only has one 6 pin or 6+2 pin connector, you need a new psu.
