Graphics card not sitting in pci slot properly

chrisnathan

So my graphics card isn't sitting in the pci slot correctly, I'm pretty sure I installed the motherboard correctly but the graphics card sort of tilts forward so the back end of it isn't attached properly. It works though. The rear bracket can't be screwed in because the card is too high. Any ideas

That's really weird. If it works, I wouldn't worry about it, as long as it stays in there.

If it's sticking up into the air and the back is too high, try pushing the card down farther. Don't push on it too hard, just gently then gradually put more pressure on it to make sure it's in the slot all of the way.

EDIT: Could you post pictures of the entire card plz?

Here you go, the second one you can see the gap between the pci bracket and the case

check that the rear PCI bracket is lined up with slot in your case..the narrow tab at the bottom of the PCI bracket fits into the slot cut into the MB pan ..

Your best effort is the easiest thing to give to someone else..

I know what you're talking about but no matter how I move it and push it down, its not moving at all

Take the card out and try putting it back in and watch it move in, see if it stops halfway into the socket. If it does, there might be something in the PCIe socket itself

Just remember that the little tab (not where you screw it in) goes on the inside of the case, not the outside.
