Okay, time for me to give in and upgrade my GPU. "Black Friday" season is upon us and I expect some deals to start popping up.

Let's talk about this like we anticipate some companies will be offer say around $50 to $100 off their cards near US Thanksgiving..

So my current setup is as follows:

i7 4770k (Liquid Cooled)

16GB 1866Mhz

the usual SSD/HHD combo

650Watt Modular (I forget the rails, but it's a performance gaming PSU)

And, I would be upgrading from a XFX 7970 3GB Black Edition.

I have two requirements, keeping it under $400 and keeping the noise level down. I would like to migrate to a Nvidia Chipset, but happy to hear all opinions as my 7970 has never disappointed me.

Keep that system and invest the money into savings.  ;)

I use a Lenovo T440: i5 4300U, 8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 840 Evo, 14" 900p display and an external 23" 1080p passive 3D monitor. Extended 6-cell battery with internal 3-cell. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (I only use open-source software -- haven't paid for a single program yet).
