Use the quote button at the bottom right to reply to people, or else they dont know you replied.

Are you use it was the multiplier, not the base block?

And how are you sure it was a xeon?

You can still change the multiplier on Xeon's. You just can't increase it past a certain point (locked). There is available variability in the multiplier so you can adjust BCLK to an ideal level and maintain some finite control of the end CPU clock.

Engineering samples sometimes come with unlocked multipliers.

 

They are also liable to defects etc and you get no warranty etc.

 

Technically you shouldn't be able to own ES CPUs :P

 

Although finding a pro grade motherboard that features core ratio adjustment must be a task.
