HDD drive beeps when acessed

Go to solution Solved by acolombo,

If you hear something like a bip and then a sort of "start spinning" sound it's pretty normal.

I always hear this kind of sound after some time I'm not using one of my hard disks, I think it stops for power saving and when it restarts it makes that sound...

Hi,

The drive has a Healthy rating by Windows 8 but it beeps sometimes when being accessed.  Not sure what is going on.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes it sounds more like a bip.  I don't hear any spinning probably due to fans.  My c drive is a SSD so I mostly never hear anything.   That makes sense because the drive (HDD) is rarely used.

Thanks.

and yes it is a seagate.  I do have online backup with local backup included so not too worried.
