The only issue I had building and assisting/guiding others building PC was this one PSU that came defective, but mind you that was 1 out of 12 we ordered for each system and they were the half ghetto but still usable psu.

There is a very low chance your parts will come defective or DOA so calm down and take a deep breath

How many times did you guys have problems with building a pc? E.g. that the pc wouldnt start up because of some unknown reason? I'm very affraid that something won't be ok with my new pc build

Thank you

Many, when i oc'd, especially the ram. No problems with building, though it was the first time and it took 5 hours to figure out some things (about the case, it wouldn't open the upper and front panel) and i had to redo 3 times the cable management, but about software i never "made" problems, because it's almost everytime my fault... :D

Only the bios a bit messed up, but it resets itself... So it's really easy

None of my parts were DOA. However, one of my sticks of RAM were defective and my system would blue screen every now and again. Honestly, DOA parts will always be a possibility. If you encounter problems, don't freak out. Stay calm and find your problem.

Connect it all before you put it in the case if you're very afraid.

You'll end up "building" it twice, but it'll make it much easier on yourself if something does go wrong... which isn't likely.

Once, I forgot to turn it on at the wall

That's happened to me before. "Why isn't this turning on?" *realizes power supply is off or unplugged* "Oh. Oops."

And how do I know which part is defective?

Once you find a problem, say a BSOD, you need to trace it back to where it possibly started. You won't know which part is defective necessarily. You need to investigate the issue. Perhaps your BSOD will be caused by software, not hardware. Maybe by Adobe Flash.
