The G3220 is indeed probably the best low-end cpu out there, you can even overclock it if you want, the stock cooler should be able to handle a bit more from that cpu.

For gaming it's a different story, but for facebook people, that's probably the best option.

A G3220 is pretty overkill if you're just using facebook. I don't think you should build your own computer if the only thing you're gonna do with it is go on facebook...

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

No, that's the G3258, and it would also require a better motherboard.

I would personally go with a G3258 and get an aftermarket cooler like an evo 212 for your "I want to game but have no money" build. I've personally built a rig like this for my LAN rig and i've had no problems overclocking to 4.6ghz. 1150 motherboards are very cheap as well and many of the non-Z87/Z97 boards support overclocking for that particular chip.

I think its smart to go with the G3258 for gaming as well, but not with a 35 dollar cooler. The total price spent would be around 100-110 dollars, to where you could buy an i3 that outperforms it. A cooler would be a good design in the future.

The H81m-ds2v is fine for oc'ing the G3258

Kind of pointless getting an aftermarket cooler to oc the G3258 when the stock cooler will do fine due to the core voltage being capped at 1.2v for the motherboard.

It's true a cooler isn't completely necessary. You can hit somewhere between 4ghz - 4.3ghz on stock cooling. Temp's are just a little toasty but the performance gains are incredible for gaming.

Exactly, I had my 4670k up to 4.3GHz with no problems on the stock cooler. I only swapped it out to decrease the noise.

As much as people will go low end in most consumer grade PC these days you will find a core i5 i would recommend a ivy bridge chip such as the 3470 or if you want to go with somthing a little better like a haswell chip however i would also like to add if all you do is look at facebook i would buy a cheap laptop as theese days laptops are great value

Yes, or a motherboard with on board graphics.

The cheapest GPU's are around 30 bucks. Not a huge deal i think.

None of the FM2+ boards have onboard GPUs, since the CPUs for them would have already had them.

And what's the point on spending $120 on a CPU and GPU when you can likely spend $80-$90 and get the same performance for cheaper?  An A8-6600K will offer around 90-95% of the CPU performance with an iGPU for $30 less already.
