Best bang for the buck bookshelf speakers

dylan43270

I am looking to upgrade my satellite speakers in my surround sound setup. Someone recommended me to use Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2-Inch speakers. That seems like a pretty good idea, but looking at review it looks like they have switched vendors or something and the sound quality is now sub-par. I know I can get some Klipsh for about $150 a pair, but that would not really be in my budgest since I need to get 4 of them. Any other suggestions for best bang for the buck bookshelf speakers?

Why do you want to upgrade your current setup, what is it that you don´t like now? I wouldn´t recommend the Daytons as sattellite speakers. They are made for a 2.0 setup, i.e. reproducing adequate bass without a sub.

Sattelites often don't have to reproduce anything under 200hz, as that's the part where the sub kicks in. Because you don't have to get any bass out of the sattellites they can be very small. What sub/setup are you using at the moment?

I want to upgrade because I rushed and got a simple 5.1 setup from Craigslist, which I can barely hear the satelite speakers when I am next to them. My 2 front tower speakers just overpower them too much.

Lol They are old Onkyo tower speakers that my father gave me. Probably older than me. They really do put out some good loud sound (sorry I don't have a picture or a model munber). My center speaker is a Klipsh that my friend gave me. The rest is a cheap 5.1 Setup from Sony that I got for $50. I would get model numbers and such, but they are currently in storage until I buy a new house.

The Onkyo tower speakers sound good to me. I would sell the rest and get a proper sub to go with the towers. Get a decent 2.1 amp and you're ready to go.

Just to be clear this is for my home theater setup and not for my computer setup. Surround sound is kind of a must.
