Greetings everyone,

I would like to ask if is it possible to connect somehow external GPU like 980 or Titan Black or Titan Z or even do two way SLI? If so can you share guide and components or final product?

Connection via Thunderbolt in later Apple MacBook 17".

Thanks

no and it wouldn't be worth it in any way whatsoever.

What? you do realise you can buy external thunderbolt graphics card enclosures yeah? means you can use a desktop GPU for gaming/rendering

All you need is a thunderbolt graphics card enclosure and a GPU, there are lots available but are very expensive

I know, I just think it's stupid.

Why? if you already have a decent laptop, or want portability being able to connect a dedicated GPU for gaming is a fantastic idea for when you are home with your laptop, upgradable and will work with the next laptop too, so it should last an awful long time

EDIT:

besides even if you think its stupid, you cant go telling somebody its not possible or not worth it, when it might be perfect for them

I just don't think it's optimized yet, you need this ghetto setup and you'll need an external power supply etc.

Its hardly ghetto, its a box, with a power supply, and a graphics card.... so ghetto ><

If there is software to support sli on OS X then yes. OS X doesn't have the noida control panel or drivers so idk how it would work

Hello, sorry for not reply soon - I was busy so know multiple reply :o:D

no and it wouldn't be worth it in any way whatsoever.

It is possible, but very expensive.

money doesn't matter - I want portable device and work with it mobile (notes, preview) and work and free time use on more powerful GPU.

u could like a gtx 780 or so, but no sli. the loss is just 10-20% compared to PCie 3.0 x16

I would like to make two external 980 with two Thunderbolt connection

What? you do realise you can buy external thunderbolt graphics card enclosures yeah? means you can use a desktop GPU for gaming/rendering

I would love to use Alienware Graphics Amplifier with Alienware 13 but you have to turn off dedicated GPU (internal 860M) and it's not in stage I want it...

And yes, rendering and occasionally games.

I know, I just think it's stupid.

Yes it might be but still worth it for me

I have laptop (in signature) but it's heavy and adapter is also brick...

I have PC but I want to have only one device...

I just don't think it's optimized yet, you need this ghetto setup and you'll need an external power supply etc.

Yes, I've seen some DIY guides with Thunderbolt to Expresscard and from it somehow to PCIE...madness so that's why I'm asking for some help

Its hardly ghetto, its a box, with a power supply, and a graphics card.... so ghetto ><

I know, I would like something like this but it's not outside yet... http://www.a....com

* Suddenly needs a lot of money real quick *

This is actually possible...?

I need it for work and comfort so money doesn't matter

We need an external mPcie 3.0 x16 connector that prioritizes connected GPUs! Then just use a mpcie to Pcie adapter and plug in the gpu and power it with an PSU that u use externally

Yes look on http://www.pcwo...com but I would like to have it via Thunderbolt and ability to SLI

they have a doo hicky for that, dont know how its called, check out the youtube check out the youtube channel, named DIY perks.

Yes but I would like to know if I can make SLI (at least two way)

If there is software to support sli on OS X then yes. OS X doesn't have the noida control panel or drivers so idk how it would work

I would run WIN on MAC...I know it's strange but only "normal" laptop with Thunderbolt (I don't like Asus and Acer laptops)

I've heard of it being done with a Thunderbolt to PCI express adapter and a PSU. It worked on Windows, but not OSX. Since then I've heard AMD and nVidia have disabled Thunderbolt support in their drivers. Not sure if that's true. Your mileage may vary.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
