I start a new job in a few days and with it comes a new pay check. But I need help. I have commented here before with a separate PC build and just... Ignore that. Please hear me out. I have a serious issue in regards to builds. I want to game but I don't know if I want 1080p or 1440p. My only real PC gaming experience has been on this old Dell laptop; 1600x900 resolution on something that heats up to 90 celcius and upwards while gaming and rendering. I do YouTube and a lot of gaming; some competitive shooters but mostly RPG experiences. I have an option for a cheaper build that I could get sooner; or a more expensive build that would take me a bit longer. Should I get the cheaper and upgrade later because it's good enough for now? Or do I wait longer for the more expensive because it'd be better? And is 1080p okay or should I vouch for 1440p? There's a lot of questions but here are the two builds (And yes, they share a lot of parts but please just keep reading.)

Build 1 (Cheaper)

Corsair Vengeance C70 - Case
Corsair AX760W - Power Supply (Platinum)

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - Motherboard

Intel Core i7 4790k - Processor

MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G - Graphics Card

Hyper X Fury 16GB Dual Channel - Ram

Samsung 840 EVO - SSD (Booting and a few games)

WD Green 4GB - Storage (Everything else)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler

Build 2 (My other build)

Corsair Vengeance C70 - Case
Corsair AX760W - Power Supply (Platinum)
Asus Maximus VII Hero - Motherboard

Intel Core i7 4790k - Processor
EVGA GTX 980 Superclocked - Graphics Card
Hyper X Fury 16GB Dual Channel - Ram
Samsung 850 EVO - SSD
WD Black 1GB - Storage (Gaming storage)
WD Green 4GB - Storage (Everything else storage)
Corsair H100i - CPU Cooler

They share a lot of the same parts but some are more expensive and I'm just curious to know if it's worth it; what I should add/take away and would I notice a huge difference between 1440p and 1080p? I'm having a bit of a crisis but it is really early in the morning so maybe I'm stressing over nothing. Please help me with any help possible.

I don't think 5GB is enough storage, really.

1440p is pretty great.

Change that black to a blue in the second build and you're golden tbh.

I didn't even realize I wrote GB. Haha I meant TB I swear! So you think I should shell out the extra cash for the second build and add that extra 1 TB of Blue rather than Black? Is there any reason for that? And I was also debating a 1440p monitor or a 1080p, could that build handle 1440p at good framerates and high graphics on modern games and maybe some in the days to come?
