This has probably been brought up before, but I'm in between whether the extra power in the 290X outweighs the new and prior Nvidia features.

The 970 is easily the better choice with guarunteed silence and awesome overclocking.  Seeing as how they are in the similar price range I would recommend the 970 due to the low TDP, New architecture and various other improvements.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

Well certain games will always look better with Nvidia at this point so if you care about the Witcher 3 and other games that have or will have PhysX then you will want the GTX 970.  If you don't care about this then look at that cheap R9 290 on NCIX for $259 after rebate.  It comes with 3 free games which you could sell to lower your cost further.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Well for one thing, i really like nvidia features and would use them if i was on nvidia, but you can find a 290 on for 220$ usd right now so that is a clear winner.

Other wise 970 if you dont want to save 100$ for 10% or less performance

I my self, would not pay $100 or recommend  for the gtx 970 just to have 4 to 7 more fps, the fanboy level is way to high on this one.

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.
